Three pieces, worn the way Filipinas have worn them for generations: blouse, skirt and alampay.
The alampay is the heart of the Venice. It folds back at the collar and settles over the shoulders, its edge cut into a deep scalloped border of open scrollwork, set with beads and sequins that catch the light along every curve. At the back it opens into a full medallion of fine stems and small flowers radiating from a latticed bloom at the center.
Beneath it, the blouse is cropped and close, with a square neckline edged in beads and a latticed motif at the center front. Its sleeves fall full and finish in the same cutwork border, so the edges of the blouse and the alampay read as one line.
The skirt is long and quiet by design: beige organza falling from a waistband that dips to a soft point at the front, with all of the ornament left above it.
Organza ties the three together. It is light enough to layer without weight, with a sheen that shifts as the light moves across it.
Wear the full ensemble for the day that asks for it. Take the alampay off, and the blouse and skirt carry an ordinary afternoon on their own. Available in UK 6 to UK 22.
