Barako is a saturated brown with a moiré grain, and gold is the only thread that can sit on it without disappearing. The sampaguita border runs the front edges and the hem in a continuous line, framing the open front the way a seam never could.
Matte organdy carries the gathered shoulder without weight; the sleeve keeps its volume and still lets the light through. Embroidered in Manila by the artisans we work beside — on cloth this sheer, the border reads from both sides.
