The Mitena is cut straight and cropped at the waist. Its fronts meet at the neck and fall open in two clean panels, the corners softened just enough to keep the square from turning severe. It is lined, so it slips on easily over a camisole or a fitted top and the panels lie flat.
The terno sleeves rise from the shoulder in soft pleats and then stand on their own, squaring the shoulder line and framing the face. Peau de soie is what holds them there: a dense, smooth cloth with a low glow, closer to pearl than to satin.
Down each front runs a single vine, embroidered in sky blue, blush pink and white, with green leaves and curling tendrils between the blooms. The two sides answer each other, so the open center between them becomes part of the design. The back is left plain, and all the color stays where you can see it.
Wear it over a simple skirt, as here, on an ordinary day, or over a slip dress when the day asks for more. Available in UK 6 to UK 22.
