On the Carmela, the flowers climb the fronts and keep going, out across both terno sleeves, so the whole upper body is drawn in bloom. Open-petaled flowers, small daisies and trailing leaves are worked in champagne thread, smooth and full against the cloth.
Cocoon silk has a texture you can see before you touch it: a fine, raised grid running through the weave that catches the light in lines rather than in shine. It gives the sleeves their standing shape, pleated where they meet the shoulder, and keeps the embroidery lying flat.
The cut is square and cropped. The fronts meet at the neck and fall open, the back is left plain, and the whole piece is lined, so it settles cleanly over whatever you wear beneath.
